Wisdom for the credit crunch from Dickens: “My other piece of advice, Copperfield,” said Mr. Micawber, “you know. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery. The blossom is blighted, the leaf is withered, the god of day goes down upon the dreary scene, and—and, in short, you are for ever floored. As I am!”

Can't get copy and paste to work like that. Have put it in my comment box. Hope it's worth it:)
So good to catch up on your latest posts - I've been away for a while.
As usual your writing entertains and informs me.
My ginger Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is called Bracken.
Thanks Pi I'll look it up.
Hi Biscuit, lovely to see you back!
I hope the holiday was good.
Banana that's such a lovely name. I love bracken, especially in autumn. People used to use it for bedding, along with cut heather, like an organic mattress. But it is now thought that the spores are carcinogenic (splg?) which sort of spoils the illusion a bit.
