September
We've had terrible weather, the river was within a gnat's crotchet of bursting its banks last night. I'm so glad I no longer live on the floodplain!
I hope it is a better day tomorrow, as a friend and I are going up to Callander for the Poetry Scotland weekend. If I was a swallow I'd bugger off now......
and here's exhibit A:

Have fun! Fly!
A gnat's crotchet...WOW!
"within a gnat's crotchet of X-ing" Fantastic construction, with which to spice up the bland English usage around here. I shall lie in wait for just the right moment to pop it on somebody. he he he ...
That photograph looked bad ~ those poor people.
Well enjoy Callander, I do hope the weather improves. We think Ireland might sink into the Atlantic if it rains any more here. Time for a nice slow-stewed steak-pie, I think!
Ooh, and I'd heard of something being as tight as a gnat's chuff, but your gnat's crotchet is great!
Mine is a steal from "I'm sorry I haven't a Clue" on R4 -old Humph used to say it all the time.
Amd yes it will soon be time for soup dragon.....
One of my oldest friends has lived in Callander for decades - I wonder if you know of her. I must see if I can find her last married name. Not very likely I suppose.
As you were. She lives in Dunkeld - I always confuse them.
The floods look frightening.
Give my best memories to Callander please.
Dear Humph, much missed!
Have a good trip.
