Burned

Madeira Highlands showing broom burned either by accident or design. (Some farmers have objected to losing pasture to the National Park) It is wonderful to climb up into the cooler atmosphere to walk the levadas and see these fantastic views.

Fantastic views from the levadas, and the smell of the Portuguese laurel is wonderful. I loved the food spitted on the aromatic twigs too. Do they still have those beautiful little bananas?

Yes they do, though they canonly sell them to Potugal, some EU reg or other. It has had a very bad effect on farming on the island, cut production down to 20% of what it usedto be I think, probably fuelling more building.
