Wisdom for the credit crunch from Dickens: “My other piece of advice, Copperfield,” said Mr. Micawber, “you know. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery. The blossom is blighted, the leaf is withered, the god of day goes down upon the dreary scene, and—and, in short, you are for ever floored. As I am!”

Yes, it's a lovely poem. Roddy's often misclassified as a 'laddish' poet, but he's actually very sensitive.
I don't like the use of lass for some reason, seem old fashioned to me, or a bit Edinburgh Rock box, but other than that I think it's really lovely.
Oh God that's it exactly. Rain and longing. I have my own far less beautiful poem about desperately wanting rain in California up on my site at the moment.
Thanks for that link. The poem drips with feeling. Reading it is refreshing.
Ooh I'll come and see yours Sam!
